Weekend To-Do's
Apr. 6th, 2012 05:10 pmThere hasn't yet been a time this semester when I've had less than 30+ items on my to-do list.
My first faculty evaluation portfolio is due on Tuesday. Eeeep! I'm not worried about putting the thing together, I'm just worried about it having enough stuff in it. Making real progress in research is all but impossible with a 4/4 teaching load, but I think the dean's office knows that. I hope they do, at least.
This is the first weekend in a while that I'll just be spending at home, so hopefully there will be some catching up, including some LJ catching up. : ) I still have my Ewan countdown to finish!
But here's the stunning thing: I'm actually going out tonight! *gasp* I'm going to emerge from the dark, cool shelter of my apartment and attempt socializing outside campus. I'm going to a film screening at one of those theaters where they serve drinks to your seat during the film (best. idea. ever.). The movie's called Detention, and it stars Josh Hutcherson, who I understand is also in some modest little indie about kids and arrows and dystopian Running Man-type games. The director will be there to chat afterwards, so it should be fun.
Speaking of movies, I was intrigued by the prospect of one about Edgar Allen Poe....until I saw the trailer for The Raven. Edgar Allen Poe the action-detective? Another I'm-your-biggest-fan-serial-killer movies? NO THANK YOU.
Another awful trailer: Bel Ami with Robert Pattinson. He is somehow both flat and angular. And when Uma Thurman bellows, "You stupid man! You complete, PERFECT man!" I laughed. Just terrible.
Now....what to wear tonight?
